MCC Theater’s annual Miscast gala is one of the most exciting and unique theater events in town. Broadway’s hottest stars perform songs from roles in which they would never be cast. And the results are thrilling!
Lewis Black ("The Daily Show") hosted the roster of performers, includingJosh Gad (“Modern Family”, The Book of Mormon), Jonathan Groff (“Glee,” Spring Awakening), Megan Hilty (“Smash,” 9 to 5), Tony Award-winner Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon), Adriane Lenox (Doubt, Still Life), Jan Maxwell (Follies, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon ), and Nicole Parker (“Mad TV”).
Our honorees were Michael Gore, Dean Pitchford, and Lawrence D. Cohen, creative team of Carrie, for their
daring, risk-taking spirit.

Our Online Auction events are hosted by CharityBuzz. Some of the amazing items offered included tickets to a Live Taping of The Colbert Report and visit to the set of Modern Family, to name a few. All proceeds from our auctions are tax deductible and benefit MCC Theater.
About Miscast
Each year, hundreds of guests and sponsors gather for this singular evening of cocktails, dinner, silent auction, and, of course, the one-of-a-kind revue at the heart of the event.
Performers from past years include Norbert Leo Butz, Faith Prince, Cheyenne Jackson, Raúl Esparza, Kelli O'Hara, Brian D'Arcy James, Steven Pasquale, Jane Krakowski, and Jesse L. Martin. Special guests have included Helen Mirren, Chris Noth, Judith Light, Piper Perabo, Ian McShane, Edward Albee, Kathleen Turner, Julianna Margulies, Lynn Redgrave, Charles Busch, Rosemarie DeWitt, Billy Baldwin, Jerry Stiller, Elizabeth Ashley, Mo Rocca, Isaac Mizrahi, and many more.
Funds raised from Miscast help MCC Theater produce some of the most talked-about new
work Off-Broadway and support our Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as our literary development work with emerging playwrights.
Last year, Miscast 2011 celebrated MCC’s 25th Anniversary season and honored a collection of MCC Theater alumni for the daring, risk-taking spirit they bring to the playmaking process including: Charles Busch, Norbert Leo Butz, Kathleen Chalfant, T.R. Knight, Swoosie Kurtz, Neil LaBute, Melissa Leo, Judith Light, Joe Mantello, Amanda Peet, Liev Schreiber and Marisa Tomei. The evening was hosted by Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen.
