PlayLab Reading Series
Once a month, we present readings of new work by Playwrights’ Coalition members before an invited audience of fellow theater artists and enthusiasts. Readings are performed by a company of more than 200 actors, who continue to donate their services to be a part of the developmental process of such exciting new work. These readings are often the first time a playwright has heard a particular play in front of an audience and provide the valuable insight of learning how a play is heard by others. Each PlayLab reading is followed by an informal cocktail hour where guests can meet and make connections in a relaxed environment. PlayLabs have become an important arena where early- and mid-career theater artists can form lasting collaborations and exchange wildly different methods, styles, and tastes, all in the context of celebrating the emergence of a new work.
