Internships
MCC Theater interns gain a broad perspective on the day-to-day work environment of a busy Off-Broadway theater, as well as a detailed understanding of how their specific deprtment operates. We do our best to work with our interns, to develop their individutal strengths and to give them interesting work that will help them grow. MCC Theater internships are unpaid. Part time and full time internships are available to college students and recent college graduates in the following departments:
Marketing interns will assist the Director of Marketing and Marketing Associate. Our intern is an integral part of our department, and will be included in both our daily and long-term decisions and work. Being a small department, our work is very hands-on with much of it occurring in-house, including aspects of design, ad buying, long-range planning, etc. Duties may include conducting market research, maintaining department archives, and planning and implementing viral and grassroots marketing efforts. Word, Excel a must. InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver a plus.
Development interns will work closely with the Director of Development and Development Associate on a variety of projects that support MCC Theater’s fundraising efforts. Intern will assist with: database management; correspondence; donor cultivation events; research; planning and tasks associated with annual gala fundraiser; maintenance of organizational systems.
Education & Outreach interns will assist the Education Director in coordinating various MCC arts in education programs, including the MCC Theater Youth Company and in-school theater education residencies. This is a terrific opportunity to obtain hands-on experience working in a professional theater company’s education department. MCC Theater partners with six New York City public high schools to bring arts education to students who would otherwise lack it. The MCC Theater Youth Company is a free, after-school program for New York City high school students interested in developing their acting and dramatic writing skills. Experience working with teenagers or arts education is a plus.
